I promise to keep pushing the edges, keep spotlighting current issues, and report on where we’ve been – and of course, suggesting some ideas of where we might go to demand improved services for those who problematically use drugs and the rest of their families/friends/loved ones.

The Blogs & Blog Book
Within a month of an ill-fated Monterey, CA, trip, Barry & Carol (FSDP) had contacted me with an offer to write a blog for them. Barry had sent me an email, complimenting me on my book and saying that he had been following me and my work for a while. He’s on the East Coast and I couldn’t remember at the time when I had met him but sure appreciated his comments, and certainly the affirming of my work.“Would you be interested in writing a blog for us at FSDP? This would be a family focused blog and we think you’d be terrific.” I had never had someone make me an offer such as this one and while I recallfeeling a pit in my stomach in that moment, I also recall thinking, “Well, what the hell do you have to lose? You can always quit.” I decided that I would say yes and agree to write the blog for a few months.I suggested we all reevaluate my efforts after a few blogs to see whether this seemed a good fit.Frankly I silently wondered whether I was even able to write again – on this topic and with some enthusiasm. And here are the results of this effort, a few years and a few blogs later.
I was struggling when I was asked to write these blogs and this little book became a fundraiser for another group. It’s with great pleasure and humility that I offer my musings from those years. I enjoyed and struggled writing them over those years but (usually) felt good afterwards. I’ve even been downright proud of a few of these. I hope you find these pieces - and the information in them - thought-provoking, humorous, and possibly even useful! I invite you to do with them as you wish.
I hope you enjoy this Little eBook of Blogs as your gift for visiting my website, and thank you - for reading these pieces, for caring, and especially for learning & listening. And thank you for helping me keep my voice clear and strong.
